Why The School of Business Matters……

Mr. Como,

I hope you’ve been doing well! I just wanted to let you know how much of an impact you had on me as a student. I knew I wanted to go into the field of law because of you. I was a student of yours in College Business Law. High school was tough for me. I struggled emotionally and had a difficult time finding myself. However, you made the class so interesting that it became something I looked forward to daily.

I continued studying the law in college through a Legal Studies minor my school offered. Although my major was Business Management, I spent a lot of my time reading over my law books and talking with my law professors. When I was 19 years old, I was chosen as the intern in the Consumer Frauds & Protection Bureau at the NYS Office of the Attorney General. I made the President’s List every semester in school. On Monday, I will be graduating college as the Valedictorian of my class.

I wanted you to know that part of my personal statement to get admitted into law school was about you and your business law class. I got into every law school I applied to. In fact, Hofstra Law offered me a full ride and I will be attending the school this fall. I would’ve never imagined that one class could have such significance in my life. Because of you, I found my true passion. Thank you.

“Words can not describe how thankful I am, now more than ever, to have had an incredible business preparation because of you. This semester I was ahead of the game. By being able to have a great resume, cover letter, and oral presentation/interview skills I was able to secure my first job on campus and excel in one of my marketing classes. I was able to revert back to my knowledge and experiences I gained through events such as Business Olympics, Junior Achievement Student Teaching at the elementary schools, and the countless internship opportunities made available at West. All thanks to you and the rest of the awesome business department there, I’m able to compete much easier. Thank you. I miss you and I hope this school year is going well thus far for you!”

Yours Truly,
Kassahel Augustin, CLASS OF 2016

Mr. Costello,

I wanted to let you know that I am having a great time up at school. Every time I have a situation with my classes or with my roommate I think of what we talked about in class last year for preparing for college. Everything that we talked about was so true and I didn’t realize that I would actually be in certain scenarios. Taking that class with you really helped me to get through the first semester with ease. I hope I can stop by to visit before winter break. I hope all is well!
Best,

Chandler:)
